LCFS has been working in partnership with 360 Youth Services (360 YS) for four years, expanding our preventative programs and reaching young people right when they need us most.
Tina* was only 20 when she walked into the 360 YS Emergency Shelter holding her baby close. They were cold. Hungry. Exhausted. They had been living on the streets, carrying everything they owned in a single worn-out bag.
Tina knew this life too well. She had spent much of her childhood in and out of homelessness. The same cycle kept pulling her back in, and she was doing everything she could to shield her child from it. But she was tired.
When she stepped inside the shelter, she felt it right away: warmth. Safety. The soft blankets folded neatly on her bed. For the first time in a long time, she let out a deep breath. She wasn’t alone anymore.
Our case managers met her with kindness. No judgment. Just support. Together, they took things one small step at a time. With help from the 360 YS Care Depot, Tina received diapers, clothes, and the everyday essentials she needed so she could focus on caring for her baby instead of worrying about how she’d make it through the week.
And Tina worked hard. She showed up. And soon, she found a job. Not just any job, but a good one. One she felt proud of.
Today, Tina has moved out of the program. She’s supporting herself and her child. She’s creating a home.
Tina is in a better place because people like you care. Your support gives families help when they need it most. Thank you for making this possible!
