Helping Families Thrive: Gloria’s Gratitude

When Gloria’s* daughter fell victim to addiction, Gloria didn’t hesitate to step in and provide a loving home for her four grandchildren. Despite being on a fixed income, she opened her doors to keep her family together.

However, the weight of caring for four children was overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. Gloria was faced with navigating a complex system while making sure her grandchildren had the care and resources they needed. That’s when Clarence, an LCFS Extended Family Support caseworker, entered her life.

Clarence saw her struggles and was there to lend a helping hand. From securing bedroom furniture for the children to enrolling them in school, Clarence provided support that lifted the burden off Gloria’s shoulders.

But his assistance didn’t stop there. With Clarence’s guidance, Gloria was able to navigate public assistance and the legal system to gain guardianship of her grandchildren, providing them with the stability and security they deserved.

“Gloria was amazing and brave to step up at this stage of life to keep her grandchildren together and out of the foster care system,” said Clarence. “It really feels good to help people, getting them the assistance they need when they need it most.”

For Gloria, Clarence wasn’t just a caseworker; he was her angel during one of the most challenging chapters of her life. His compassion not only bettered her family’s situation, but also restored her faith in the goodness of people.

As Gloria reflects on her journey with LCFS’ Extended Family Support program, she is filled with gratitude for Clarence and the entire LCFS team who stood by her side every step of the way. And you’re a part of that team! Thank you!

“Please know you’re a blessing to these families. With every donation—no matter the size—you’re making a difference,” shared Clarence.
